who would have thought we would end up together? and who would have thought it could be amazing?

ika-ume pasta — squid and umeboshi (pickled plum) pasta. made roughly from watching a Wafuu (Japanese-style) pasta recipe on Kyou no Ryouri, NHK’s cooking show. first boil the squid after cutting into rings, and toss with vinegar, olive oil, and some pitted and chopped umeboshi. also add some chopped basil. let marinate for a bit. toss with pasta after it’s cooked, and you’re pretty much set. also you can eat this as a side dish without the pasta. it looks strange, but works out perfectly, because the sourness of the umeboshi is reminescent of dried tomatoes.
